Fiona and Garlap both lived and studied in Vancouver, but now reside and work in Hong Kong. They planned a trip to Vancouver this winter and invited me to do a winter photo session with them around some of Vancouver’s most well know sites. Fiona was dressed to the nines for this photo session. She brought along wedding gown and a beautiful red evening dress that looked amazing in the photos we created, and despite the cold damp and dull weather, they managed to pull off a fun and relaxed portrait session in advance of their wedding in Hong Kong later this year. In this winter session, we wanted to keep the colors vibrant, so we used as many locations with vivid color as possible. Fiona’s red dress helped out a lot too! Elie of Elie Makeup provided hair and makeup services and a special thanks to Emma for hanging out with us that day!

My life completely changed the moment I laid eyes on him. Liam was born on January 19, 2010 at 8:16am in the morning. We stayed in the hospital for about four days and on the fifth day, my wife and I gave him his first newborn baby portrait session.

Last spring, Alona contacted me about taking photographs of her sister Lola. She wanted it to be a special gift for her sister’s birthday. What an awesome sister to think of such a wonderfully personal and meaningful gift! Yay Alona – You rock! It took a while for us to eventually schedule the session due to all the rain we got in the Spring, but the sun eventually showed, and we got to do some lifestyle photos and head shots in Vancouver. I’m re-posting these photos because when we moved over to our new blog, the photos didn’t convert over as they should have. I love looking at photos taken in the Spring and Summer during the winter months, it reminds me of all the warmth and beauty I can look forward to in just a few short months.

Kristen + Dan first met at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. They now both live in Ontario, but have made plans to get married here in Vancouver. They were in Vancouver over the winter holidays, so we met up at the UBC and had their photo session around the campus. UBC is an amazing location for both engagement and wedding photography. There’s a full mix of new architecture and older classical buildings. The campus is enormous and the options for where to go are too many to list. Although it was a cold January day, they tough’d it out and can ready to rock the camera lens. It was cool to get an opportunity to learn a little something about them and I’m super excited that they asked me to be their wedding photographer later this year. Here are a few engagement photos from the session.

Alicia and Paul are having a baby and they’re due just shortly after my wife and I are due later this month. They both came by the studio for a portrait session and I had a easy time working with them both. Alicia looks amazing, and Paul looks good too of course! I just know they’re going to have a beautiful baby! Below are just a few images from our maternity photo session. Can’t wait to see their precious little one in about a month’s time. Hope I’ll get to do some fine art newborn baby photos with them too!

The Stanley Park Pavilion is a charming rustic Vancouver wedding venue situated a short distance away from Stanely Park’s Georgia Street entrance. Just steps away from the Rose Garden, it offers an outdoor venue for your ceremony and an indoor venue for your wedding dinner reception. In the summer months, the area outside the Pavilion is often crawling with visitors and nearby parking lots can be jammed packed if there are entertainment events happening nearby (such as the Theater Under the Stars at Malkin Bowl). If you don’t mind the occasional crowds, Stanley Park Pavilion can a great place to celebrate your wedding in a single location that has it all! Being situated in Stanley Park, opportunities to create gorgeous photos with your wedding photographer are abundant. No need to go far – just a short walk away and you’ve got everything from lush forests to tranquil gardens to beaches and sand.

Sabrina and Derek celebrated their wedding dinner reception at the Stanley Park Pavilion this past summer. We spent some time taking photos with family and friends in front of the pavilion before heading out for a photo stroll through the park. The only problem we encountered was having to choose from the many nearby locations to visit for photos. If you’re having your wedding at the Pavilion, make sure you communicate with your wedding photographer that locations you’d like to visit. Stanley Park is a huge place and if you don’t plan ahead, you might just be overwhelmed by all the scenic locations available to you.

The Pavilion provided parking passes for all of Sabrina and Derek’s guests, but finding a parking spot nearby was a bit of a challenge because an event was happening the same night at Malkin Bowl. Nonetheless, all their guests managed to find a spot and the reception turned out perfectly. There were a number of touching speeches, but Sabrina’s speech was the best! After dinner, the danced, drank, partied, and ate some more late into the evening of this Portuguese/Croatian wedding!

CC Roa contacted me a few days ago to let me know that my photos were featured on the Wedluxe Magazine Blog on January 1st! What a great way to start off 2010! They featured a few photos from Reshina & Steffyn’s wedding last summer. CC did the decorations and floral arrangements for their wedding, which was a fantastic event at Swan-e-Set in Pitt Meadows. I had a fantastic time as Reshina & Steffyn’s wedding photographer. Be sure to check out Steffyn’s band, Bullets Over Beauty. Thanks Wedluxe!

The Arbutus Club is a private member’s recreation club situated in Vancouver’s west side. The Club offers both an outdoor and indoor venue for your wedding ceremony and a handful of mid to large sized rooms for a lunch or dinner reception. The largest room is the Strathcona Room, which seats up to 200 people. One of the mid-sized rooms is the Quilchena Terrace, which seats about 100 people. They also provide their own catering. Parking is available on premise with additional options available around the neighborhood. A number of upgrades were recently done to the Club, making it nice option to host your special event. There are also a number of good nearby locations that make great options for creative wedding photography.
